Construction of Silverado began in 2005 after owners of Spruce Meadows pushed for a wetlands development to be established between the residential area and the show jumping facility.  The wetland development benefited both Spruce Meadows and Silverado as they both now enjoy the 7 acre wet pond and 80 acre natural reserve around the community. For those wanting to spend time outdoors, there are also over 9 kilometers of pathways throughout the community, tot lots and parks.
